Andrew Tate, Toxic Masculinity Ambassador, Now Arrested: 5 Points

He gained a following online, comprising mainly young men, by advocating for a hyper masculine lifestyle.  In 2016, he was a contestant on UK reality show Big Brother, and was expelled from the show after a video of him hitting a woman with a belt surfaced online.  He is a former professional kickboxer. After retiring, he has mainly been active as a businessman and a social media influencer.  In the past, he has been banned from Twitter, for saying that women should "take responsibility" for being sexually assaulted. He was reinstated after Elon Musk's Twitter takeover.  He currently has over 3.8 million followers on Twitter, where he regularly encourages his followers to "take the red pill", a reference to the movie "The Matrix". "Taking the red pill" is a common call used by alt right internet users to encourage others to question the status quo. from NDTV News- Special https://ift.tt/Fdjw0ZY https://ift.tt/yYcMpro

Elephant Fatally Gores Handler In Malaysia Park

An elephant fatally gored its handler in a nature reserve on the Malaysian side of the island of Borneo, on Christmas Day, park officials said Thursday. The handler was tending to an injured elephant calf when another captured elephant suddenly gored him "very severely" in the chest, Augustine Tuuga, the director of the park in Sabah state, told AFP. He added that Fred Lanson, 49, "died on the spot." The accident occurred on December 25 in the Lok Kawi Wildlife Park in the northeast of the island of Borneo. "This is really an unfortunate incident," Sabah's minister of tourism, culture and environment, Jafry Ariffin, told AFP, adding there would be an investigation. The park is a sanctuary for 16 Bornean elephants, an endangered species, with only six handlers caring for them. In December 2011, a wild elephant killed an Australian tourist in the Tabin Wildlife Reserve in eastern Sabah. Bornean elephants, a native species of the island, are a subs...

Caring With Covid: Infected Doctors In China Battle Virus Surge

Doctors working despite being infected, beds filled with dozens of elderly straining to breathe -- on the front lines of China's worst-ever Covid outbreak, hospitals are struggling. Many Chinese were jubilant after Beijing announced the end of mandatory quarantines this week, effectively drawing the curtain on years of hardline virus controls that had isolated the world's most populous country. But as China opens up, cases are surging. The healthcare system is straining and crematoriums are struggling to deal with the influx of bodies. At Nankai Hospital in Tianjin, around 140 kilometres (90 miles) southeast of the capital Beijing, AFP on Wednesday saw more than two dozen mostly elderly patients lying on gurneys in public areas of the emergency department. Most were hooked up to intravenous drips, and some appeared to be experiencing breathing difficulties. A few seemed to be unconscious or not fully responsive. "Yes, they all have Covid," a doctor told AFP. ...

In Tamil Nadu Village, Feces Dumped In Water Tank For Dalits

A shocking case of caste discrimination has surfaced from a village in Tamil Nadu, the home of Periyar movement, where human feces were found dumped in a water tank meant for the Scheduled Caste community. The district authorities who went to investigate, found the horrors did not end there. The village still practiced untouchability -- to the extent that the local tea shop has a two-glass system and the Dalits are not allowed in temple premises. The BJP is sending a team to investigate tomorrow. Pudukottai collector Kavitha Ramu and district police chief Vandita Pandey visited the Irayur village in central Tamil Nadu on Tuesday after complaints that a huge quantity of human waste was found in a 10,000-litre water tank that was supplying drinking water to the Dalit community of around 100 people. Villagers said in recent days, many of their children had fallen ill. After doctors suggested that the drinking water source could be causing the problem, some young men climbed the tank and...
